Tanzanian Honey Taste Profiles
The main vegetation types of Tanzania include afro-alpine heath and moorland, forest, woodland, savannah grassland, bush land, thicket and swamp. These vegetation determines some unique feature of honey in Tanzania, such that aroma, taste, colour, texture, and flavour. As the results there is Miombo honey, Upland Forest honey, Acacia honey and Pemba honey from Tanzania produced in woodland and forest reserved in southern, northern and coastal regions by using mono-floral such as Miyombo, Itigi thickets, Clove and Mango trees.
Likewise, traditional production system in reserve area which results into amber to dark, medium to dark, dark, light and golden yellow colours, viscosity is thick with medium and slow rate of crystallisation, strong fragrance, clove and naturally smoky aromatic, rich in strong unique floral flavour, some not so sweet and other is very sweet with a slight salty aftertaste and has international composition requirements.
