Tanzania Honey Trademark
The Government through the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism and Natural Resources and private sector actors represented by the TABEDO, API Support, HEAT, Pemba Beekeeping Association (PEBA) and Zanzibar Beekeeping Association (ZABA) aims to build firm foundations for future growth of the subsector. Among others, this is achieved by setting standards and creating a commonly owned and managed brand mark (Tanzania Beekeeping Sub Sector Trademarkl).
The Tanzania Honey quality seal was officially registered as “Tanzania Honey Trademark” on the 12 th of July 2024 in the United Republic of Tanzania (URT) under the Trade/Service Marks Act 1986, Section 28 (2) and Regulation 50. The custodian of the Tanzania Honey Trademark is the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE)
The trademark will lead to positioning the bee’s products from Tanzania in attractive market segments, since common standards will be respected and the sector’s reputation protected.
This trademark is designed for producers, suppliers, and consumers who value honey that is pure, authentic, ethically sourced, and meets international standards. It stands as a mark of the country´s commitment to improve and ensure quality and sustainability of honey and other bee products.

Setting The Standards.
We want Tanzania Honey to be recognized for its purity and quality. When you choose honey with the Tanzania Honey Trademark, you’re indulging in a standard product. Our Trademark symbolises purity, sustainability, traceability and unmatched flavour. Each jar of Tanzania Honey marked by our seal is a testament to the meticulous care with which it is harvested from our lush forests, rich with over 450,000 species..
The Tanzania Honey Trademark is based on the existing Tanzanian honey standards, specifically the TBS Standards, which are recognized in East Africa and other regions. The Trademark guarantees that every drop of Tanzania Honey meets the highest regional standards and undergoes rigorous testing to earn this mark of excellence.
Legally registered companies that comply with TBS standards can apply for the trademark for a fee. The use of the Tanzania Honey Trademark is optional. SMEs can choose whether or not to apply for it. But whether you’re a honey lover, a supplier, or a business that incorporates honey into your products, you can support Brand Tanzania by going for honey that is trademarked.
